I'm considering doing my own tax returns this year and found out the forms are no longer available..i have to download them off the IRS site.
After years of a CPA doing them i think I can complete my own this years since nothing significant has changed in a few years.
anyone else a little hesitant to complete their own?
I have done my own for years and years. Only one year did I have it done - we closed out a business, moved across country and pulled money from a 401 account that year and it was a little overwhelming.
There are many on line services that will probably do it for free with an arrangement with the govt. They will even efile it for you. I've used this for the past couple of years with good results - I chose Freetaxusa dot com as it fit my circumstances best. Just google around for free tax filing - eventually you will find a govt site that lists them all. They have different requirements for free service, so read each one carefully.

Do you prepare your own income tax returns or pay a professional to do it?I jsut went through the ordeal. We tried Turbo Tax this year, and the fee was only $65.00, as opposed to $300 to 400 for a non-CPA and who knows how much for one of those.

The Senator from Nevada, Reid, says a Bain Capital employee told him Mitt Romney did not pay taxes for 10 years. If this proves to be true, does this change anything? Won't some people simply regard Romney as more of a hero, wishing they could do the same thing.

In recent history, every presidential contender has had to show the American people that he or she conducts their affairs in an open and honest way. Mitt Romney is not the exception. His resistance to releasing these returns, as encouraged by many in his own party, creates a reason to believe that...

McCain released two years of tax returns. Reagan released one. Romney has released two. It wasn't a big deal with McCain and Reagan. Why is it now?http://factcheck.org/2012/07/romney-and … precedent/

“I am the king of debt,” Mr. Trump once said on CNN. “I love debt.”A New York Times investigation into Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's US real-estate holdings revealed that companies he owns have at least $650 million in debt — twice the amount that Trump's public filings,...
