Can anyone recommend a decent Screen capture software that is not too expensive? I just tried Camtasia and unless I am doing something very wrong ( I don't think I am) the quality when I uploaded it to youTube was atrocious. I could barely see the image and the sound was HORRIBLE.

      Check your settings.
Unless you have an ancient PC that doesn't have the power to handle video processing, Camtasia produces excellent videos for you tube.
(If you were recording your voice, I can understand why it sounded horrible :-) )

I like using Cyberlink YouCam for capturing.
You can easily add lots of great effects, and it's pretty cheap.

Camtasia should not be outputting atrocious video.

Camtasia is pretty much the standard ! I use it for client videos and bill quite high for the videos, never had a complaint about video quality.

I was actually really amazed to see just how good Camtasia was at cutting out background noise, my videos always had a static noise that was created from my mic picking up my fan noise - one button click clears that right out in Camtasia.

I would play around with output settings a bit more.

Mark, I have successfully used screenr to create tutorials and uploaded to youtube.  http://www.screenr.com/. It is a free online software. And you can use your own audio.
You can see one of these videos in my hub,

    Hope this helps.
