I have said this before and I have said this again. The Hubpages staff is really hurting themselves.
It is clear the the +1 button is a big deal, infact check this out. http://www.infobarrel.com/blog/2011/06/ … -articles/ There are several things I see Infobarrel doing that Hubpages is not. It is clear that there infobarrel spends time being proactive. I have really thought about moving some of my stuff over there.
Due to the lack of daily updates and no reassurance from Hubpages.
I'm not going anywhere or taking any hubs down, but it is getting kind of annoying coming on hubpages looking at some of the things that could be done and aren't.
I mentioned that the Hubpages staff hasn't updated us on anything. A staff member saw it and quickly posted stuff that I was already well aware about. I am spending a lot of my time with you guys, and not knowing where this place is heading is sure making me not want to make more hubs.
Ahhh, yes. The long-winded farewell speech... staple of internet communities everywhere.
Actually Wry makes very good points, but I am guessing being a member of HP for 2 days is a valid excuse for not knowing any better. She was/is an excellent Hubber, and was an 'Elite' which she voluntarily asked to be removed from based on her feelings towards HP. You might want to check out what the 'Elite' badge here means, who she was/is, how many fans she has, her Hubber score etc etc before assuming this is just another 'long-winded farewell speech'
Actually, her volunteering to be an "Elite" was the only thing I didn't like about Wry. But she knew that, as I asked her on the forums why she wanted to be saddled with such a horribly chosen title.
Funny, I can't remember what she said, but I suppose it didn't pan out like she thought it would. I've had bad experiences with "volunteers" at writing sites, so I might be feeling a mite "snake bit." (pun intended)
Randy I feel the need to say and then I'm sleeping ha
there was 2 weeks of going back and forth on when I could come and was given a contact and time, showed up too busy had to leave office. The assisstant said who are you what company do you represent, I said I am a 2 year hubber, oh was the response.
On the same hand I have to stress Simone was my angel and main contact working her ass off and I will never forget she made time for me via emails
I received an email from the contact I never got to see when I got home with a phone number, called right away and answering service followed by an email i have saying given we are a website we communicate via email please, i have heard your voice via message so please email from now on
Its irrelevant what happened my point was maybe it's me they don't respect, whatever the reason I got the obvious avoid her and I have such revenue producing accounts given my business and my love for this site, creatively and writers
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Perhaps iif you taken a snake with you things would have been different!
...KL...considering what you wrote above...you were in contact etc. before you flew to the south west coast of the US from central Canada and spent your own money to travel and took the time out....why would any business treat a client/person in such a way...i don't get it...i see it as bad bad bad business...thank you as well for speaking up/out
Good luck Wry. It surprises me of the comments about Wizzley only being a month old. I'm pretty sure if I am not mistaken that Hubpages was once one month old. Some people have a narrow field of vision.
To see your departure as an Elite HP member must really send some serious signals to other members. The reasons for why you are leaving are more serious but unfortunately very true and understandable. That's why so many hubbers have already left and achieving in other areas.
Lets hope that sometime soon that other HP members will see through the smoke and mirrors and protect their best interests. Lets also hope that the powers to be behind HP have witnessed the demise of what could have been, was been, a good platform and reflect on what they have done.
Once the two Pauls, Jason, Maddie and the other older staff were held with very high regard. It is now very obvious that this blessing was ill founded. I remember when Maddie was just one of us before she got the Hub Team badge and was an active member in the forum just as you have been, and now she polices the forum.
Good bye Wry and best of luck.
Coming soon, I think. The site is pretty cutting-edge, otherwise.
Jason M. did announce that it is in queue to be added here.
I wonder if they (HP engineers) are trying to be extra careful to make it hard to game (I certainly hope so). It seems to me, given what we have seen in other respects on HP, that it could actually open a can of worms, if it is not done the right way. I mean, could people who have multiple accounts end up +1-ing themselves from each of their own accounts? [I'm sure my question shows my ignorance of how such things are engineered.] How is that handled on the sites where it has been introduced (infobarrel and all)?
Hubpages has nothing to do with spa
Checking the +1 button, since google manages that via google accounts. The only reason they would have any troue with installing the +1 snippet is if they have a conflict with part of their anti spam software.
I am still on the fence weather to stay or go... I haven't written a new hub for at least 3 months. Got irritated when it appeared that the Hubpage "team" flagged two of my articles for no other reason than a biased censorship based on "grammar" and that the content was written for a limited audience... my family. I write because I want to share my photos and travel experiences... it would be nice to make money, however, with almost 10,0000 views I still have accrued less that $30.00 in my ad sense accounts. So to be told by a 'nameless' committee that these articles need to be rewritten for what ever reason makes me crazy and not eager to write again for this site. I have been thinking about pulling my articles and still may do so... I'm trying to figure it out. Thanks for posting, as I appreciate your position and the clarity. It may assist me in moving out of this passive state.

I have to admit that I did not do a lot of research on Hubpages before joining, but since that time I had read countless articles on it along with the Google Panda updates. Of particular interest to me was the demise of Squidoo and the parallels to Hubpages. Seems to me that the...

I have been hub hopping lately and I am disgusted with the incoherent garbage that I am coming across - nothing but poorly translated articles of about 400 words, usually without even any formatting. I would say that more than half of the articles I randomly encounter are clearly nothing but spun...

I don't know, maybe this is just a disgruntled Rant by myself, alone.I call myself a Writer. By default, this makes me a Reader. And, as someone who has the arrogance to think I am good enough to call myself a writer and a reader, I have opinions, on my works as well as the works of others. So, with...

Hey folks. I'm a long time member here and an SEO guy by trade. I love this platform and want to support it. I've been digging into Panda data, and I have a few suggestions. Let's work together and 'right the ship!' 1) Start a brand new account today. Fresh content is what Hubpages needs. Google...

We all appreciate that it's our own responsibility to protect our own work, but it's a big job, and it's in HubPages interest to help us, because plagiarism affects the whole site's income. On another thread, there have been several suggestions of features HubPages could add. So far we have:-...

This is a long post, and I'd certainly appreciate you reading it, but for those adverse to large chunks of text and opinion, the TL;DR summary is:- HP thinks and acts as a business with a bottom line- They are making decisions to sustain and improve that bottom line- We don't understand all of the...
