How does someone else set up an account with my email address without my confirmation?
I have no record in gmail of ever receiving mail from HubPages until today, when I received notification that my account was going to be moved.
Just to check, I reset the password and accessed "my" profile. No details at all, no name, no photo, no activity. Just the username "abeliever" - a username I never use.
When I looked, there was no link I could find to let me delete my account.
Is HubPages on the level, or does it spam people hoping they will be fooled into joining?
Sorry, but this is an interesting problem.
Sounds to me like someone took a stab in the dark for an email addy to sign up - and it was yours. If not, someone else may have a better clue for you.
Rafini's right - some spammer has taken over your email account to set up a hubpages profile. Hubpages does not spam or set up accounts for people.
They do have an email to contact the team: email@example.com
I really hope you can get things "fixed" (or shut down) easily.
I have to wonder if someone hacked you email account? How would they access the emails from HP if they haven't. I think you should also contact your email provider to let them tell you how to protect your account.
Email HP and let them help you sort it out. If you want to close you account HP will be happy to help, if not you can choose to stay.

Is there a possibility we could have a new feature that would only allow Hubpage members with profiles to send emails? I think this might cut down on the amount of spam we are currently receiving from unverified email accounts. Just a thought . Also, it would be great if email...
