Write good quality original content on topics that people are searching for and backlink it.
I use TweetAttacks PRO for traffic.
I use it to drive traffic to CPA offers and my own personal websites for the most part, BUT you can use it to drive targeted traffic to anywhere you need.

Use keywords that get a lot of traffic, but are low completion. Use the "Google keyword Tool" to help you.
Make sure the title is a longer phrase with good keywords that people search for in the search engines.
This is just one aspect of it, but an important one. You could write on higher competition words, but you need backlinks or more of them.
