I just joined the other day and I've started to put together some Hubs. Thing is, they look a little sparse without any pictures. Where is the best place to find pics that I can add to my Hubs without violating any legal or unwritted rules?
A great website that I've discovered is for photos is:
I've just started out too but have already used them in several of my posts. They've got some pretty good photos.
Welcome to HubPages.
I use the Creative Commons search and check mark use for commercial purposes because my hubs have ads on them: http://search.creativecommons.org/
From here, you can specify Flickr or other sites and hone in on images that are available to use on a commercial page. Check the rights for the size of the image you want to download -- sometimes not all sizes are available under Creative Commons.
--Flickr with the Advanced Search set to "Creative Commons / Commercial Use Only" (be sure to give credit and a link back)
--Stock Xchng (some photographers there ask you for credit and a link plus notification...there's a small comment box where you can notify them)
-- Clker.com for clip art

One of my big problem is, I do basically nothing with pictures and videos. Because I'm not really sure where I can get them. I am more or less talking about pictures, but if their is some hidden secret with videos aside from youtube, that would be great! Also I am sure it is key to give credit?...

I see Hubs where beautiful photos are used and are from Pinterest. The photos are usually credited as being from Pins. Are we allowed to use those photos??

is it necessary to cite the origin of your photos if you downloaded them from somewhere? and is it necessary to copyright or somehow mark photos posted that you yourself has taken? thank you in advance for any input.

Regarding the latest newsletter about incorrectly crediting images, is it suggested that we take down all images that are not copyrighted or cites "google images" or "microsoft images." Should we, who are guilty, expect a violation email soon? Or worse, get idled?
