After a few weeks of waiting, ebay informed me my application was rejected. I followed the instructions given here on hp to the letter. I inquired why the rejection and they said they didn't have to give a reason - which they did not.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this might happen and how would I prevent it on a future application? Thanks for any help.

i waited and waited also and finally got MY rejection letter too!
I used to be an afflilate of the old affiliated program and have sold on Ebay since '99. Boy, things have gotten pretty chilly over there! :sad

Same thing here Stacie! I have bought and sold on ebay since 99. I just don't understand why it is so difficult for them to give a simple answer as to why the rejection. A pretty poor example of good business practice and customer service if you ask me. But I guess if you're the biggest dog on the porch you can afford to piss off a bunch of little dogs - until a bigger badder dog comes along and pushes you off your pedestal. Then just watch while all those little dogs that you pissed off pounce and rip you to shreds then lift their legs on ya! Bwahahaha...

    Well, one can hope. :-)

Thanks for the solidarity Stacie! I have submitted another application but this one was a bit different. If it works I'll post it here. Not sure I'll use it though. mad

I just use the ebay products to update my hubs in searches.  However, I have only made a dollar from ebay and I am not holding my breath.  In the future I might start using rss feeds for my hubs instead.

You are right Susie. There is nothing as irritating as a company refusing to give a simple answer as to why they have rejected you. Yahoo was there with tough conditions when Google silently established themselves and took up the market.

Sweetie - Thanks for your comments! I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't yet understand rss feeds. Though I have been on the internet for, well, since it began (gasp!!), I am only now learning about SEO, monetizing, and all those other terms I don't recall right now. The rss feed is on my "To Do" list of research this weekend. So hopefully by next month I'll get time to do it. LOL!

ngureco - Wish I had a crystal ball that worked right so I could see the "Google" that will stomp on ebay. I'd buy stock if I did. I remember when Google was just getting started and thinking to myself, "This company has a funny name. I wonder if they really think they can out do Jeeves?" (sigh). I could have been a rich woman today if I thought so. sad

      Hi Susie,

When you edit your hub all you have to do to add an rss feed is choose a page that is updated often.  For example if you have a blog that is related to your Hub topic you can use that.

    Susie

Did you use the same email as you use for your normal eBay activities?

I know eBay is an absolute pain if you need to ask for help - they don't even have a phone number in Australia for their helpdesk, and if you email them, you just get automated responses.

Thanks SweetieP. I think I have to go back farther to the basics of what exactly an rss feed is. Once I have the understanding of what it is and how it works, I'll be able to better grasp how to use it. That's the way I have come to realize I learn best. I have been spending so much time on this site just reading and learning the ropes that I haven't been spending as much time writing as I would like. But usually once I have something down, it sticks pretty well. But then again, I am over 50 and hormonal. Things happen, things get forgotten. :-)

Hi Marisa! No, I didn't use my regular email that I use for all my ebay stuff. Is that the key? Should I use the same one? Thanks for the input.

I suggest you reapply using your regular email, it's worth a try.  After all, if you used some other email, they have no way of connecting you with your existing eBay account, you're just an anonymous newbie.

I wish we could help, but we don't have much sway with the eBay Affiliate people.  Some applications seem to breeze right through while sadly others seem to have nothing but trouble.

Have any of you who were rejected by ebay been approved later? How frustrating to have no idea why! I got my rejection today. I had put off signing up with them for some reason...should have just left it alone I guess :-(

So to answer my own question....I just got my "approval". Wierd.

I applied to eBay using my own website for the application and I got approved OK, so if you have been rejected via hubpages you might be able to find another route in via maybe a blog or your own website if you have one. Not sure it will work for you so only a suggestion.

Must be a pain getting rejected roll

I had similar experience but the problem resolved within few minutes when I talked directly to their representitive. In fact, my mobile number was changed and when he was assured that I am the same person, he aproved me immidietly. He asked my old mobile number and gave me green signal.
