A hub listing synonymns is not a "good first hub"
If it's okay...let me get out my thesaurus and get to work...
I had to go look-see what you were talking about! You are right, that is not a good first hub despite what the commenter says!
Excellent info for spinners though
Cool, Susan! Be sure to list synonyms for "Elite"! LOL! I cannot believe I was added to a FB page called the HubPages Elite without my permission, especially after I tried so hard to make my feelings known about the word itself. And then having to plead to be removed from the group was not funny to me.
There is a Facebook page called Hubpages elite?
Do they all talk about 'elite stuff'?
Randy, whenever you want to leave a group on Facebook all you have to do is go to the drop down menu within that group and click on leave group.
I appreciate this info! Let me add this. I have nothing against the others who were in the group as those whose writing I'm familiar are indeed great people. I would feel such a hypocrite if I remained there with the present title. Sorry!
......and is it public or elitely private????
It is for all hubbers. I think the point was to say that all hubbers are elite... Anyway, they are thinking of changing the title.
I agree UW it was not meant as Elite being people who are a cut above but its mainly older hubbers working with new ones to give them confidence in writing hubs and also providing guidance to them as a place they can come and talk and seek help
No offence meant but I think Randy you are over reacting...
You are free to think I'm overacting, CP. The group was started during the time I was discussing the relevance of the word Elite as used here and by a member of the Elite who I had made known my views on the subject. To then add my name to a group bearing the same name without consulting me first is overreacting?
Perhaps it's just me, but I'm beginning to wonder what some people are thinking here, or if they indeed are!
You have an elitist attitude towards the elite.
I get what you are saying Randy, but remember this group's intentions like any other can be taken two ways.
It can be looked on as a joke, something uplifting, ironic whatever.
Or it can judged to be misguided and derogatory.
I would go with the former...where's my invite? (lol just kidding!)
Where did I slam the entire group, Cal? Perhaps if you read the thread you would understand why I didn't like being added. I stated I liked the people, not the title. And if you read the thread you would discover the person who began the group was one of the most vociferous in defending the word as used here.
I'm not angry, just disappointed at the way things seem to be heading on HP. I'm merely one person though, and HP runs their business as they please. As I said earlier, you are entitled to your opinion.
Sorry Randy I apologize I know you did not slam the group, I take back what I said and I do understand, I shall delete my comment and I openly admit hands up that I was wrong there
Will you come back if they change the title?
No problem, Cal! I'm not really fond of FB groups as it is, but I would have been pleased to associate with the group under other circumstances. But no, I don't want them to change the group name just because of my problems with the present one. If they feel the name is no problem I have no problem with them doing whatever they choose. I merely didn't like being added under the known circumstances. Otherwise, no big deal!
Thank you for accepting my apology Randy and I understand your reasons whole heartedly
Thanks for actually examining my reasons for feeling this way, Cal!
I respected your wishes and removed you. Many people wanted you there so I agreed to add you. I sincerely understand how you feel when it comes to the title on HP and I tried to calm the storm with you on the thread. Yes I was vocal because to me it is only a word that means so many things, but to you it means something completely different. I respect your thoughts and I hope you can respect mine. I still admire all that you do and you are very talented, with deep appreciation for you, there was not any type of disrespect intended.
The FB group places all of us as one, that is why it is created. It is a place to share your ideas, how you were published, your work, your good days and your bad. Assistance from each other, I still ask for advice from other hubbers, that is what it is all about. You are so knowledgeable it would have been nice to have you with us or any other person who wishes to be there, we have not left anyone out. All of us are there for each other.
Everyone needs someone and in that group each individual is important, nobody is less then another. We sincerely wanted you there because you are wonderful Randy. If you were hurt, I apologize.
I suppose we just look at things in different ways, Julianna. I just cannot imagine how it is possible you thought I'd be pleased to be placed in a group bearing a title with the same word I had recently made clear--especially to you-- I disliked so much. But let's let it go at that. No big deal!
I would like to read that thread though, could you send me a link?
Here it is, Cal! Don't know how you missed it, though!
Randy that is not the forum thread your on about mate thats about adult content
OOOPS! Sorry, I apparently erased part of the link! I edited the previous post too!
What's up here? Can't make up your mind?
I like the other one better - this one is too fancy. Or are you a fancy-pants? Without legs, even?
And you thought it was going to be a stick snake! This original "Ewebie" will no doubt be worth a pretty penny after Mark is gone.....er...famous! :p
Nope - no stick figure there. A cute little guy - I rather like it - but...where is the evil? Everyone knows that all snakes are evil! Maybe a couple of horns, or an apple strapped to his back?
Mark has his own list of things he will not do and evil is something he charges extra for. Principles mean something to him....and he charges more for them!
Wow! I'm surprised you have time to read this thread with all of the comments you have to answer on your popular hub! Congrats!
Thanks Randy! It was exciting yesterday, but died down a bit today. I've been following your Elite saga and not doing anything else really. Oh and watching Snakey evolve.
I don't know that it is actually a matter of principle. Mark is a ghost - you can tell because he looks just like Casper - and we all know that ghosts are evil, too. We also know this because he sucks the laughter right out of people, probably storing it in some kind of nefarious machine.
Mark just doesn't want to lose any of that valuable commodity (evil) by putting it into your snake.
Wow! That's deep! I wondered why I had trouble laughing the last few days!
You've been reading his hubs, right? And laughed so much there just wasn't any left! That's the way he works - very insidiously, encouraging you to spend all your laughter on his stuff and then there isn't any left.

HubPage authors, Susana, Christin and I thought of starting a Facebook group for those of us who also have websites of our own and for hubbers who are seeking help and guidance on creating their own website. This idea took root after a discussion on this thread. There are many reasons why a FB...

I was just wondering if there were any plans on expanding the Hubpages Elite sections. Most notably I feel it is wrong that a lot of hubbers have been given Hubpages Elite status for saying hello to new people, but the hubbers who help out a lot in the knowledge exchange and need help catagories do...

I was thinking that the hub hopping tool is great and all, but it doesn't really address hubs that are older and have slipped through the cracks for months and even years.I was thinking that we could have an adopt a topic program. For example, I've been writing a lot of hubs on Nepal and have looked...

Just wondering what sites Hubbers use to promote their articles? I have seen a lot of changes over the years with some sites no longer allowing links in forums or comments, and some article sharing sites just going away. I primarily use Facebook and Twitter these days to share my...
