The slide show is not working for me on a hub I published yesterday. I'm wondering if anyone else is having a problem? The 'show original size on click' option is not appearing in the edit photo capsule either. And there is no option to disable the slide show now in edit mode. Any suggestions?

I just checked several of my hubs with slide shows. They are working fine, however, I do see a new format for them. They no longer go to a separate page, but open up right there on the page in a new sort of flash pop up window. You may need a Javascript update? Not sure, but it is a new format and that may be what is causing your problem.

Try viewing slide shows on other's hubs and see if you can view them or not. If you can, then it would be a problem on your hub(s) and such.

Thank you Dale. You may be right about my computer being the problem, because not all the other slide shows I tried were working for me (some were). I was actually trying to figure out how to disable the slide show, at least until I fix the problem. Any ideas on that?

It used to be if you took the "thumbnail" option off, that would disable it. I may be wrong, however, snakeslane.

Thankyou! I will check that out. Clearly my computer is needing some attention. I accidently messed around with some files when I was downloading Kindle books, and I think that's causing problems, of course I have no idea where to start to fix that, I guess I could do a restore and see what happens.

Good luck on the restore. Make sure you go far enough back and pick up a restore point that was prior to anything you may have done with the Kindle thing, or you will duplicate that same problem.  Of course you probably already know this.

I did just put up a hub with a slide show and did a "test". I did not click thumbnails and the photos went down the right column of the article. Once I clicked thumbnails it went into the slide show mode.

Thank you so much for all your help. I did a restore, and that was a long process, but my slide show is not working. There is the arrow to view the slide show, and when I click on that it goes into the slide show, but the photo is distorted, and the other 12 photos do not appear. It's a mess. I had a friend view the slide show and he said it worked fine, so I am quite lost. I think I will just leave it for now.

I checked out the lovely photos as well as the entire hub. No problems with the slide show. Did you try a Javascript update?  That "may" resolve the issue. Also, consider clearing your browser cache if you have not already done so.

Oh wow, really, thank you very much Dale. I feel so out of my depth here. I don't know how to do a java script update sad

I just checked on another of my  photo gallery hubs and the same thing is happening there. For some reason my computer is not in sync with the new slide show format. Maybe it's a bug. I am hoping a staff member will come along and see this forum.

I noticed the same thing yesterday when putting photos in - no "show original size" check box was missing. I don't think it has to do with slide shows though - that was the first photo on the hub.

I am missing that option as well, the original size one. I guess that has to do with the way the slide show is being presented now, not allowing such.

Just checked an older hub - same thing for photos published long ago.

I also noted on another hub with only 3 photos that the first one had a caption to see all photos - the slide show used to require 5 photos, so maybe they've replaced bigger photos with the slide show.

If so, I don't like it.  I've written a lot of hubs that use photos as part of the data provided, and a capsule is written around a particular photo.  The reader needs to be able to expand it, take a good look, and go back to the text.  Maybe flipping back and forth several times.  Having to go through an entire slide show to see just one photo enlarged will turn a lot of people off, and I've mentioned several times that the photo can be clicked to enlarge it.

On this hub I just published, Wilderness, I published with just the one main photo, then added some minutes later, the others. The "view as slide show" button was there for just the one photo and when I clicked it went to the slide show window as we now see it.

As mentioned, if my mind serves me right, not only did we have the option to show the larger photo in great detail, which as you mention, can be a very important part of the hub, but we have lost the Google ads. I seem to recall Google ads displayed on the previous version of the slide show. I could be confusing this with the newly formatted "Answers" page however.

OK, I just set up a new hub with some 15 pics in thumbnail version.  Each one can be blown up individually as you click the thumbnail, then again by clicking the "mid sized" photo, just as it was (although the new maximum blow up looks bigger).  That's a relief - it operates like it used to but without the check box in edit mode to allow it.

I'll have to checks ads on the slideshow, though.  I get a good number of clicks from slideshows and would hate to lose them.

I will re-check my hubs when I get home from work. Thanks, Wilderness. smile

Hmmm...no Click for full size option any more....is that intentional?
