Would you allow a complete stranger to suffer if your family would be happy forever?
If you and your whole extended family could be happy and disease free forever with no tragedies or horrible things happening to them ever, as long as at the same time a complete stranger would be suffering constantly alone because of your happiness, would you do it? Once you made the choice you would forget about the stranger and be unaware of his/her suffering.
I don't even have to give this a second thought. For me, my family comes first... period! It might seem cold and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who will say how can I let anybody suffer. But the hard cold facts are that there are millions in the world who are suffering already. The health and happiness of my family is enough justification for my conscience.
Have you watched The Box recently or something? While I admire the other respondent’s passion for family, I could not let another suffer for my family’s happiness and health; however, my answer is easy to say since it is only a hypothetical. I would also tend look at this question along the line of the movie The Box. Would other people be offered this same deal, and would we have a Utopia based on other people’s suffering (do we sort of have that now?)? In closing, I always have trouble answering these types of questions, because I always want more information.
No, I would not. I would not consider it for a minute. My morals and the spiritual teaching I learned from my parents and the Christian church, and my sense of empathy and fair play would prevent me from ever doing that.
I am astonished by the people who said they would agree to impose permanent suffering and isolation on another person in exchange for their families happiness and health. Not only does this contradict the basic tenets of every major religion "do unto others as you would have them do unto you," it also reminds me of the belief system of the Nazis.
The Nazis came to believe that imposing hardship and suffering, even death on other people was perfectly acceptable as long as it benefited them personally. What a terrible and inhuman belief system.

Suffering draws us closer to God, God could say the word and all our toubles would go away. It's through struggles that are true self comes into light and we either turn to God and trust in Him or go the other way and get drowned in defeat and discouragement. Why do you think God allows terrible...
