Teachers: what are your favorite teacher's gifts to receive?

I'm looking for ideas for end-of-school-year gifts that will be appreciated by the teachers who receive them.

Anything, followed by a sincere thank you note smile  Kids have brought me in giftcards for a nice restaurant, lotion, chocolate, coffee, mugs, and candles - I've loved it all.

In fact my first of teaching (it was a high school EBD room) and one of boys brought me a cookbook - problem was I think it might have been stolen from his home sad

Some kids have had no money and brought in a couple of cookies and five-cent candy - trust me - it's all appreciated!

Hi savingkathy. I have taught for 31 years and will be retiring this June. I have received many gifts over the years. I agree with BJC. I just appreciate the thought. To tell the truth, I would rather get a card with a sincere thank you than anything else. I spent many years in inner city schools and my favorite gifts were the ones the children made themselves. I am now at a middle class school and I really like when a donation to a charity is given in my name such as Sick Kid's Hospital or something for animals. I really don't need another cup or box of chocolates. I have to donate any bath products because I am allergic to fragrance. I would have to say that if I have to choose a gift I would prefer a gift card. It can be for a small amount. For example, $5 or $10 for a book from a book store or for a coffee shop. Anyone can use these. I still think a card or letter written by you and by your child is the greatest gift of all. I hope this helps. Buddybaker

I once received a huge gift basket full of fruit and flowers from one of my handicapped students. I have received thank you cards saying..."You care about me"."Thanks for being a good teacher" and "You mean a lot to us". Perhaps one of the most poignant was when I was about to retire and two of my children hugged my neck and did not want me to leave. It was a tearful departure that day.
