   Did you suffer in any way from this Massive Hurricane Sandy Storm?
   
   If you indeed suffered in any way, power outage, flooding, or worse by this massive Hurricane, please share whatever you feel folks can learn from, and in the event such an occurrence happens again in the future. Maybe write a hub on how you handled your situation, and all.

   Great question Cloudexplorer. I think we can even expand on this beyond those in the wake and aftermath of the natural event of Sandy. Soon, the regions, both national and international will suffer the consequences of Sandy. Remembering Katrina in 2005 and the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami of Japan we have past lessons to learn from. The cause we know is that it is a natural event creating an short term affect with long term effects. Most certainly the psychological affects with our children causes suffering with parents nationwide. Uncertainty prompts at times despair through the demise of fear and its allies.
   
   I listened to the children walk to school passing by the mobile home. The talk was did you see on TV. Questions of awe and exclamations of I am glad it was there were overheard.
   
   I go to work today in the anticipation of a co-worker being a little frenzied since he is a New Yorker. Another friend has a daughter and a son living near Manhattan. Yesterday he told me that his son said the streets were bare, the subways closed, and friends were huddling together. Another friend has family members living in New York. She was thankful her mother lives in California nearby, yet that mom has family there.
   
   I can not imagine the suffering and the impact of this natural event will have regarding suffering.

      Many people are OK, and so many other are not for sure bro, and everywhere it seems with all the 15 states having so many issues, I just pray for the recovery to be swift, and for people to help from around the globe. Thanks for the cool answer.

   Our power is out but we are so glad that one of our gigantic trees did not fall. We camped out in the basement last night to be safe. We are without power and hope it is restored soon for everyone. We are so grateful for our generator and have a house full of kids watching a movie.I recommend having a generator and for future reference want one that can turn the power on in the entire house.

   Mike, what a great question.  I was not affected except...emotionally  I ache for those who have lost lives and jobs and homes.  Other than donating to a local charity that is sending food, clothing, and housewares to the affected areas, I didn't know what else to do. So, I wrote a hub and challenged other writers to write a hub that offered readers an option or two or how they could help.  The list of writers who met my challenge is growing.  I am so proud of the caring spirit of this community. With the potential we have to reach so many people, we can make a real difference.  Every time I am made aware of a writer who has met my challenge, I add a link to my hub and share theirs on all my networks, hoping the ripple effect will grow huge support for those that are hurting so badly as a result of Hurricane Sandy.  That's all I knew to do.

      Thanks IRC for you cool answer, yes so many people have been affected and all across 15 states +. This was of such a massive magnitude that people truly are going to need to pull together, and in a major way to help recover and all.

   Right now, I consider myself blessed. Even though we live on the South Shore of Long Island we suffered minimal damage (a few bent but not destroyed trees) and we have power (Unlike 90 percent of Long Island). But, like Katrina, the impact of this historic storm will reach, like tendrils, far into the future. I shall soon write a hub about Sandy, but for now I'm just glad to say that the Wicked Witch is Dead!

      Thanks god your OK RF, my family here is also OK, some of my family however are surely without power still, but its much better then to be without a home or much worst, which I've seen on the News how Sandy totally destroyed many places, and all.

   Great Question. I live on the west coast so only the indirect effects will hit me. I understand refineries had to be shut down so the cost of fuel will increase for me. The revenue that will need to generated to cover the cost of the response will also trickle down to me. I do my best to support local business and buy as much locally made items as I can.
   It is a small world.

   I did not suffer because I am in Chicago – there were some strong waves at the lakeshore and they closed the drive and trails because of those waves but that was about it. I watched the whole thing with great interest and awe  . . . but am thankful that it never reached me.
