Should thanksgiving be a world celebration of the gifts from a benevolent Creator?

Do you think that mankind is thankful or thankless, about his state of being and present development ?

I think mankind is going through a dark hour. With recession and ill health making life miserable for many. And sadly I don't think the majority of mankind has thankfulness for their state. Most people in the 21 Century feel they owe nothing to god. Very few people pray or concern them selves with their spiritual health.
I personally try to give thanks for every blessing. From fresh running water to having a home and some peace. I try to give thanks for the food I eat and for the peace that I live with. I try and be thankful and take nothing for granted any more. And I do feel that if people started being thankful again and learnt to count the many blessing in their lives it could only help them belong and feel satisfied with the 21st Century.

That's an interesting thought. It is not the reason Thanksgiving was created, but that would be a great holiday. I'd celebrate world thanks.

why would we celebrate being thankful to a myth. that's freaking absurd. if there was some loving god out there, do you really think there would be 100's of thousands of babies born with horrible diseases, raped and beaten, abused in horrible ways etc. try being thankful to maybe the police and military, you know those folks who risk their lives to keep us safe. or how about doctors who save some of these babies.

This is not a world history question at all and belongs under a different category

The day of celebration merely underscores our gratefulness to our kind, generous Maker/Provider for giving us what we need, and yes, what we deserve.
