   Why it is SO MUCH EASIER for people to make excuses than to take actual responsibility and to be
   
   accountable for their life actions and life choices?
   It seems to be the name of the game these days to make excuses if one's life situation is not the way he/she want it to be.  There are people who are fond of making any excuse for their dire and/or less than positive predictament.  It is nothing for people to blame outside forces, their culture, their race/ethnic background, or their socioeconomic background for not achieving what they want when the real reason is their life choices.

   I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in America our children are being conditioned to make excuses instead of working hard.  This is not individual Americans, but the government and media working together to control the masses and turn a once great country into a bunch of whining socialists. 
   When I was kid, if you were only mediocre at a certain activity, maybe sports, you were told to work harder and you might improve.  Now our children are told it is okay if you are mediocre at sports, just give up if you are not happy with the situation.  This is just one example of the type of bologna that the media is forcing on those willing to listen.  Well, what is that same kid going to do when they are only mediocre in school,  or at work, or in life?  They are going to make excuses, just like the almighty television has taught them.  Oh and don't worry, the government will make sure they are taken care of, right?
   I rant time and time again about the American government ruining our country, but the truth is the people of America are allowing this to happen.   A rebellion against our current government is far overdue, but who will step up and accept this suicide mission?  It has been made very clear by the American government, over the course of recent history, that if anyone gets in the way of their agenda they will be promptly discredited or possible terminated.
   It is a frustrating situation that may not ever be solved.  The American people have lost control of our country to an overbearing government, and there is no clear solution to regain that control.  I hear many people say we should elect different politicians, but even politicians with the best intentions must work inside an already corrupt system.  I also firmly believe that most elections are just as corrupt as any other part of the American government. 
   Think about this, if the American people started a huge rebellion against it's government, would the government realize it's own faults and sit down with citizens to start a reform?  OR  Would the American government covertly assassinate the leaders of the rebellion and employ it's own military to turn on and control the citizens of America?  Sadly, I think we all know the answer.....and these are the same politicians running our country and spending our tax money faster than they can collect it.  We are supposed to have 'a government of the people, for the people, by the people', but the people no longer have any real input.

      Good answer, damn straight.  If we failed as children, we were told to do better, get in shape, and stop whining about failing.  Nowadays, children are rewarded for making 1/10 the effort and simultaneously they're told they're great regardless

   Very interesting question. I see this not only when it comes to dealing with individuals but also when it comes to most tragedies.
   Instead of simply blaming the gunman, bomber, or whomever eventually the focus is placed on existing laws, doctors, shrinks, parents, court system, or (anyone else) who could have "prevented" the incident. It's always someone else's fault!
   Going back to your original question I'm often intrigued when someone points out evidence of (others) who overcame similar or (worst) obstacles in life and still managed to achieve success. These "slackers" will simply shrug their shoulders and attribute it to "luck".
   If a person did just a few simple things like completing high school and then learn a trade or graduate from college with a degree in an area that offers a career path BEFORE they started making babies or chose a spouse. In addition avoid the pitfalls of using illegal drugs or participate in illegal activities which could lead to jail or prison.
   Stop associating with known felons or those who are not striving to better themselves in a positive manner. Be very selective with whom you date or become "emotionally invested" in. They'd have a higher living standard. You have to live among likeminded people.
   If you want something bad enough you will find a (way) and if you don't you will find an (excuse). I have a cousin who wanted to become a doctor. His family didn't have the kind of money to provide for that kind of education. My cousin joined the U.S. Navy and went on to college, and medical school. Today he is a doctor. 
   Having said that there are no "guarantees" in life. Nevertheless if one is "shooting for the moon" but end up landing on a star, well that's alright too! Odds are you're going to do a lot better in life by really going after a worthwhile dream than you would if you surrendered to your present circumstances.
   Our lives for the most part are the end result of our choices and decisions (we) have made along the way.

   There are race/ethnic and/or socioeconomic background issues that are in deed real and limiting with regards to achievement.  To deny this would be wrong.  However, for every issue there are examples of people who rise above.  You have to want a better life, believe in yourself, and take responsibility overcoming your obstacles.  Those who overcome their obstacles are not stuck in self-pitty mode, searching for a free ride, or blaming everyone else for their problems. 
   There was the homeless kid that slept on the subway and graduated magna cum laude earning a scholarship to an ivy league university.
   There is Oprah who grew up poor and was molested and raped. Where is she now?
   When you stop believing you can achieve better you start believing your life should not be better. You accept and then reach for nothing better for yourself or your next generation.  In order to change your life you must remove yourself from your comfort level. There are resources out there to help you, many of them free, however no one is going to come knock on your door and give you anything in life.  Seek and ye shall find.  You will not become a celebrity overnight and to believe some man will spot your backside/breasts and you will have shopping sprees and upgrade your life is what the music video generation believes is true.  Hard work is needed to reach your goals.  People are not being taught that it is your responsibility to take care of yourself.  Those who understand this rise to the top, and those who don't remain in their bad situation.
