Being social is an important ability everyone should master as early as possible!
First. Always be yourself! People can see past lies very easily, and even if you are able to keep a lie up and going, do you really want your friendship based on a lie?
Second. DON'T BE SHY! Most people are kind, and want to be treated with respect. So talk to people and be nice!
Third. After you start a CONVERSATION make eye contact, and smile. :) Even if its something that you don't have as much interest in. Chances are you may be talking to that very person later about something they might not enjoy as much, but its great to have someone to talk to!
Fourth. Ask lots of questions in your conversation. This is important to make the other person feel wanted or needed in the conversation. Ask open ended questions, such as "Where do we want to meet before the big dance?!," as compared to "Do you want to meet at my house before the dance?" Open ended questions will force the other person to take interest and give thought to there answer. Where close ended answers "CAN" always be ended with Yes or No, not that they must.
Last but not least. Try this book. :) It might seem wrong but there are many Psychological rules about how people act, and work. Going for school for business and sales this is a must read! It teaches how to get people to do for you what you want, even if they do not know why they are doing it. haha
The name of the book is "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" it can be found at http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com/Influence/Rob... .
