Neither, it will or it wont and there's nothing we can do about it so it's a waste of time worrying about it.

It has about as much chance of ending then as I do of dating Kelly Brook.

No.  In recent studies of the Mayan calendar it was recognized that the 2012 date is just the end of one of the many cycles in the calendar.

The only way the world will end in 2012 is if they actually elect Sarah Palin to the Whitehouse.

Seriously tho, I have no faith in any of these faith based gloom and doomers. Someone has been predicting the end of the world ever since they first discovered how gulible the human race is.

Total non believer.  I second Stump's fine answer. . . .with some exceptions.

It's like the Schrödinger's cat experiment that explains a cat possibly believed to be alive or dead, and depends on an earlier incidental event. So, the answer is we'll never know if it will or it won't.

I do not believe that the end of the world can ever be predicted - We even survided an astroid impact - Ah...wait, I think that was a movie. Non the less, funny to see end-of-the-world movies usally pop up at the end of the year going into a new one. Who knows...one day their timing might be right.

I believe that the world will continue on, and that it's extremely presumptuous to think that it would stop existing so suddenly. However, our place on it is another matter entirely. The way things are going, I would not be surprised if an event occurred which irreperably changed our way of life, perhaps jeapardizing our future or altering its course.

No, but life is definitely headed for a dramatic change. This has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that the current population is far above what the planet can sustain. There is nothing supernatural about it.
