Is it possible that Jung's concept of the Collective Unconscious is genetic-based? In what ways?
The concept of the Collective Unconscious implies that certain symbols, metaphors, archetypes, and the like have universal meanings across all cultures regardless of an individual's experiences in life. Instincts have been explained as possibly having a genetic basis from generations of the same experiences being encoded into DNA to pass reactions onto offspring independent of personal experiences. Can a similar process exist to explain the Collective Unconscious?
What an interesting question!!!
There are definitely some theories that are moving towards a genetic memory or ancestral memory concept. I have also read a few theories and research on past life experience which concluded that the individual's recalling past life experience may not be calling their actual past life experience but the life experience of their past ancestors. The argument was based on the science of DNA replication and how much information is actually stored with DNA and our cells. (I am obviously oversimplifying but it was interesting)

experience even across cultures is a similar one-- we all have the same basic needs, live on the same planet and can likely associate the same symbols with similar meaning.
I am a dream interpreter and have noticed this when analyzing dreams. People do seem to have a basic agreement of what certain symbols, metaphors, archetypes, etc. although I will say I am less accurate with my interpretations of dreams from a culture outside of mine. As human beings we stress and emphasize the differences across people but the possible explanation of us seeming to have a collective consciousness is that we have more in common than we tend to notice.
It is not possible that Jung's concept is genetic based because the mind influences the dynamics of the cells... therefore the expression of the cells could be altered...

Without intelligence, would life exist? Some say intelligence is only the outcome or the sum. Also that intelligence isn't needed, life simply responds and forms by natural unconscious mechanics in response to a stimulus. Without intelligence, how does simple life recognize, memorize, and respond...

Do you think playing with the Ouija Board is harmless fun? I'm writing the next part of my testimony about experiences I had after playing with the Ouija Board that led me to believe it is sinister; but I would like to read other people's take on it and experiences they had with it.
