How do you feel about private schools in general? Is it worth the money? Fair for all families?
Well, I attended them for sixteen years and taught in them for sixteen years so I guess I qualify to answer this question. Although they have their restrictions and annoyances I have always believed that you can receive a better education in the private school system. They have fewer restrictions placed on them and teachers have more freedom to actually teach rather than teach to the test.
If you can afford to send your child to a quality private school it is worth the cost. Our son attended private school through elementary and junior high and we believe this gave him a good foundation to build upon in high school and college. I agree with billybuc that the private schools have a lower teacher/student ratio and are able to give more individual instruction as needed. They also have the ability to see your child as a person and not just part of a crowd.
