What Were Some Of The Causes Of World War II?
The keywords here are unadulterated aggression, quest for power, and ethnic prejudices. The Axis powers, Germany, Italy, and Japan were known to be aggressive towards countries whom they considered to be "inferior" and "weaker." Japan invaded Manchuria in the 1930s in a bid for more territory. Germany annexed Austria whom it considered to be a fellow German country. It then invaded Czechoslovakia on the pretext of there being a large German population there.
Poland was invaded on the subferfuge of the "indication' by some spies planted by the Nazi government(the Gleiwitz experiment) that the German population in Poland was being mistreated by the Poles. The German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 began World War II in the European Theatre. The Japanese under Tojo, a military warload, wanted Japan to establish her miliary hegemony. The Japanese wanted to assauge the Americans that they wanted peace although their ulterior motive was war and conquest. This was proven on December 7, 1941 in the morning hours when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, an military base in Hawaii. That started World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
The Treaty of Versailles (1919) devastated post-WWI Germany and sowed the seeds for the rise of the Third Reich. That treaty put the blame for the "Great War" solely on Germany and nearly bankrupted them--but it didn't completely disarm them. Out of this chaos (really a power vacuum) rose the Nazi Party.
And then in a modern equivalent of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, the world simply wasn't paying attention to Hitler. Loss of focus, blindness, whatever you want to call it--the world didn't really see what Germany and Japan were up to until it was too late.

Another lie that we've been fed to. I've learnt like everybody that the Allies declared war to Germany because it invaded Poland on Sept 1939, the truth is different. Georges VI's speech says it all! You will notice that the style is the copycat of the one we use to justify our invasions...

Within a week, it will be the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. In light ofthis, have humankind really learned valuable lessons from World War II or have we become worse in our relations with other humans, becoming more divisive & tribal in our consciousness?
