What are the 5 ways that large/very large families tend to be more dysfunctional, even pathological

    than medium-sized and small families?

While that's not necessarily the case, here's my guess.
    1) They tend to be poorer, since there's less money to go around.
    2) A lot of times, the family is large because of ignorance of the parents regarding birth control, or they've fallen for religious propaganda.
    3) Emotional resources are more strained, so there's more abuse or neglect.
    4) The parents may be more prone to playing favorites.
    5) It's more likely at least one child will "fall through the cracks", since it's harder for the parents to keep track of everyone.

Excellent answer!  Took the words out of my mouth....  You're RIGHT as usual, more like RIGHT ON regarding your synopsis of the situation at hand. Again, the large/very large family is pathological indeed......You have delineated it excellently!

The large/very large family contains many negatives, even pathologies that isn't commonly found in smaller families. Such include no individualized attention, parentified children & unequal treatment. read more
