Which period of history you WOULDN'T want to live in? Why?
I wouldn't have wanted to be on the Mayflower. Being on a boat for 2 months would suck. Also, when you got there, there wasn't anything. You had to build everything. That would have sucked.
Any era before modern medicine, where you one in ten minor to moderate cuts lead to death by infection, half of all surgeries killed you by infection, communicable illness regularly killed people. All the people worshiping herbs and "natural" products forget that before antibiotics and vaccination, 2/3 of children died before they grew up, so obviously people who knew those substances well couldn't do much about it relative to sulfa drugs and penicillin.
This deadline has the added benefit of ruling out time without decent anesthesia.
A lot of people forget that time travel dumps you in eras with diseases for which you are not immune or vaccinated - and don't have the medicines to save your life.
This era, i would love to have been born in the 1930s -40s
