Do you believe that American children who are born POOR have any hope for educational &
socioeconomic advancement or are they doomed to remain poor like their parents & grandparents, even becoming part of the underclass? Do you believe that educational & socioeconomic advancement are designated for at the minimum solidly middle & upper middle class American children & not the poor ones?
Not really. American children who are born poor will in the majority of cases, remain poor. Many will become part of a new permanent underclass. Children who are born poor won't have the educational, intellectual, & socioeconomic opportunities that their solidly middle, upper middle, & upper class counterparts will have. Poor children are oftentimes bereft of educational, intellectual, & socioeconomic opportunities. Their parents can't adequately provide them access to quality education. Poor children attend substandard schools where they receive inadequate education which will put them at an educational disadvantages when competing w/more affluent children.
Poor children are academically behind in more ways than one. They receive poor education in the schools & they are properly taught at home. Poor home environments don't have the intellectual paraphernalia that solidly middle, upper middle, & upper class home environments have. For poor children, receiving a quality education is beyond their socioeconomic purview because good schools are usually in good neighborhoods while poor schools are usually in poor neighborhoods. Let's add that intellectual paraphernalia such as books & computers costs money which poor children can't afford.
Also the cost of quality education is constantly rising w/the cost of a tertiary education being in the five figure range per annum. Even the solidly middle class find it expensive to attend college. With the constant rising cost of tertiary & advanced level educations, only the solidly middle, most likely the upper middle, & upper classes will afford college. Poor children will be locked out of tertiary & advanced forms of education, they will be relegated to minimum wage, dead end Mcjobs w/no prospect of advancement. This means that they will continue yet another generational cycle of poverty.
