Children from the lower socioeconomic echelons simply won't thrive in the economy of postmodern, 21st century America. A poor child who is born in this current century will have an extremely slim chances of being educationally & socioeconomically successful. This child will never become middle class nor better. There is a very strong likelihood that this child will fall into the underclass or be even impoverished. Poor children are subject to the worst schools where they will receive a substandard education. Poor children are behind & will fall further behind in postmodern, 21st century America. Poor children are totally doomed in postmodern America. Your thoughts?
I would say that postmodernism in the universities is the biggest issue but it does seem to be spilling over into public schools. These institutions rack up their tuition costs while supplying only ideological course material. No ones reading the classics, learning how to write properly or even using citations and references in their research anymore. That's what postmodernism does. Its a resurgence of dada-ism. They're criticizing the foundations of reality itself. They reject well-established sciences and only look at the world in terms of power and oppression. The logical end of that is precisely that which they claim to stand against. Plus a lingering sense of nihilism....
Having said that, kids still have a chance at educating themselves. They just have to be shown why it's important and what tools are available for them to use.
