The latest studies indicate 40% of Covid deaths are vaccinated, unboosted individuals and the other 60% are simply the unvaccinated.  That is a recent change from where more like 90% of deaths were unvaccinated individuals.

The main reason Covid has not gone away in the United States is that there is a certain segment of our population have no interest in protecting themselves, their family, their friends, and strangers and refuse to become vaccinated and boosted.  Because of this America will never reach the kind of herd immunity that protects the population as a whole, such as measles, mumps, etc.

Right now, new cases are increasing again - from 25,000 per day a week or so ago to 70,000 per day today.  The death rate has dropped to 250 per day, mainly Trump Republicans, but should be increasing again shortly.

Why, in your opinion, are Trump supporters, more likely to die?

Because that is the only demographic that has put up the most resistance to get vaccinated.

92% of Democrats are vaccinated (not sure about boosted)
78% of Independents are as well
Only 55% of Republicans are vaccinated while 37% if Republicans (these are mainly your Trump Republicans) definitively will not get vaccinated.

      Hence my conclusion.

Interesting:  In the UK 92.6% of the population over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated, very similar to the USA, but the big difference is that it’s not political in the UK.

Currently the infection rate in the UK is low and falling, less than 7,000 new cases a day, and hospitalisations due to covid is low and falling sharply at the moment, less than 10,000, and only 214 on ventilators.

Covid deaths in the UK although quite high compared to the USA e.g. around 125 a day, the death rate is sharply falling; so it’s going in the right direction.

I hope the UK can keep it up.

Republicans in Congress are opposing funding vaccination and similar deterrent measures. Consequently, if they remain successful, our infection, hospitalization, and death rates will skyrocket once again.

My hope is that sooner or later enough Trump Republicans will succumb to their disease that they finally learn they need to join with others to help defeat this man-made disaster.

The UK Government is continuing to monitor the situation as a matter of routine; with daily updates published on their website.  The main metric that would trigger the UK Government into taking further action would be if the NHS was at risk.  As they did throughout the pandemic, the UK Conservative Government would act to support and protect the NHS as and when necessary.
