Miami Vice Movie Review

Updated on August 14, 2006

Too cool for school

My review on Sonny and Rico's latest adventure

I personally never watched Maimi Vice so I didn't know what to expect from the movie. I came in with average hopes and expected some good action and flashy toys. This movie delivered some good times and in the end was an o.k. movie.

The plot of the movie was pretty simple. Rico and Sonny, two badass Miami cops, go undercover to get a bunch of bad guys dealing some drugs or something, to be honest I got lost, mostly because Collin Farrel was mumbling most of the time with his mullet. During the movie you see some good action, pretty rides, not so pretty ladies, and Rico and Sonny I don't think ever smiled. The acting was pretty average I guess, Collin and Jamie did a good job at being cold, angry, sly cops but seemed a little too serious. The gun battles were my favorite part. They had some pretty nice camera shots of people being ripped apart by high powered weapons such at the 50 cal sniper rifle that blew an arm off. Also the sounds of the gun battles were really crisp and sounded powerful. Being that this movie was in Miami I expected much more good looking ladies. In fact I don't really remember one good looking lady except one of Rico and Sonny's sidekicks who was usually only in cop gear, she just kinda had a nice face, and when I say kinda, I really mean just average. The lead ladies weren't really that great, the asian girl had big boobs which really suprised me but her face was kinda weird. My girlfriend said it was because she had odd bone structure, which could have been, I just couldn't figure it out. I really don't know what to say about this movie because there wasn't much like.......I don't know, i just didn't get was going on really, I just know everyone was very angry the whole time.

In the end Miami Vice had nice gun battles, sweet boats and a nice Lambo. The acting was ok but it couldn't make up for me getting bored at times because I didn't know what was going on. I usually am pretty easy on these types of movies but I feel like it could have been a lot better with an easier plot and more stuff blowing up. If you are in the mood for a good 5 dollar movie with some fun go ahead and spend the money. But don't go for the more expensive one and don't expect movie of the year award. But if you don't really care, wait for it on DVD.....if you have a free movie rental or you can get someone else to get it.
