Mankind. Can you think of a more provocative response than that?

Quite an open ended question. In terms of what? A specific monster from a video game, film, or book? Or perhaps in terms of a mythological archetype?

To answer both, I'll go with Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2 as far as specific monsters go. For archetype, I have always been fascinated by Chimerae and Cerberi.

In film it has to be Rawhead Rex from Clive Barker's film of the same name. In video gaming, the Land Dreugh (or "Billies") in TESIV: Oblivion. In books, the Cenobites of Clive Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" and of the Hellraiser series.

Clive Barker is a great writer. You should also try some books of Graham Masterton.

The movie version of Rawhead Rex was awful. There's an illustrated graphic novel version of the story that's fittingly brutal, wholly original and grotesque. I dig the devotion to Clive, though.

You should give a thought to the word 'Fear'.

If I'm going down the horror film route then would have to say The Djinn from the Wishmaster horror series - Only Wishmaster 1 and 2 though (actor changed for the others in the film franchise). What he does is so horrific (and sometimes really grim) but he has such charisma you can't help but like him.

The idea of a twisted genie that bends your wishes really resonated with me.

The Graboids from Tremors are near the top of my list of favorite monsters.
I don't care for any of the human / monsters like vampires, werewolves or any other incarnation of transformers.
