I would like to know who believes Michael Jackson bleached his skin, or did he have a skin disease?

If you believe he bleached his skin than say why.  If you believe he had a disease than name it.

Let's just say, he didn't have any disease! The disease he claimed to have only causes splotches of skin tone unevenness. Look it up!
    God rest his sole!

Well, I believe he should be left to rest in peace without anymore speculation about him or his life.

    Regards, E.

Hey, Michael told Oprah that he had Vitiligo. His friend Deepak just talked about it recently. If you want to see pictures of Michael with the disease, see this hub:

No he didn't. The condition makes skin porcelain not pink.

I think he suffered from vitiligo, and bleached his skin to hide the discoloured patches...

Although I beleived him I also base my opinion on facts and research from interviews and pictures and I also looked up  the disease. He did have a skin disease called vitigilo which causes a person to lose the pigmentation in their skin causing white patches.  A lot of people don't believe him because vitiligo causes patches however he used make up to even out the skin. At first he covered up the white spots with brown make up however the disease progressed and he had more white patches so it became easier for him to cover up the brown patches and even out his skin. Please click on link below to see interview with his makeup artist, Oprah interview in 1993 and pictures of his vitiligo (white patches).

i read somewhere that if you bleaching your skin it only can make your skin four shade lighter and michael is very pale even when compare to white people .

Medically speaking, I can say that I have seen people of African descent who have the same skin disease he claimed to have (Vitiligo). And the affected areas of their body did very much look like the skin tone he had in his later years. My own feeling is that he had a disease and later ended up having to somehow arrive at one skin tone. So whatever that entailed, yes, I think he did alter his skin color, but not to become "white".

I believe Mr. Jackson probably suffered from body dysmorphic disorder, and his endless plastic surgeries are really a sad commentary that surgeons would work on someone who really does not need surgery. Such a shame, and a sad loss. I hope he is at peace wherever he is.

Back in the late seventies or early eighties I heard he was buying special soap that with daily use over a lengthy period gradually changed his skin colour. True or false - who knows?

One thing you might want to look at is this:

Let me make it plain I do not agree with this man's Christian Religious credentials, but he certainly knows his own kind!

He did claim to have Vitiligo but I think it's more likely that he bleached his skin (or changed the colour of it some other way -ie: medications or lazer treatments?). It's obvious he was a man obsessed with trying to change his appearance, not just his skin, but also his face.

I am a fan of MJ and always will be. But I think he bleached his skin. One of his sisters looks lighter now too. It is just impossible to go from a brown skin to white caucasion skin because he had a skin disease. Besides his paler skin didn't look blotchy or anything to me. Sorry Michael, love your music but I hava a hard time swallowing this one.

It's called Vitiligo... I Have it and it covers over 50% of my body... Many Docs have suggested that I bleach my skin to even it out but my skin is not too dark so I decided aginst  it. I'm one of the lucky ones and I don't have it on my face so it's easier to hide. Over the years I have meet many others with the same disease and I have met a few aferican american women who had it as well and they chose to bleach thier skin. It's not absurd to believe that he had it too. It's a disease that has no cure, and it has a mind of it's own. For me, ever since I got it it has been slowly filling back in until this past year, I have been loosing more pigmint. If somone chooses to bleach their skin it is something that they don't just do once, it's something that they have to continue to use thier entire lifes.

i think he had a skin disease and he bleached his skin. I have seen pictures of his skin discolored but not to the extent that I would bleach my skin but hey he said it doesn't matter if your black or white so he turned white and figured it didn't matter.

I do believe Michael had The Skin Disease Vitiligo. There are many Pictures where the patches are clearly visible on His Skin. He did not simply go from being Black to being White; it was a gradual process. Yes, He used Make up to cover The Patches, and in Performances, You can see how The Sweat makes the make-up run, revealing the patches. Many members of His Family have The Disease also, including His Son, Prince; confirmed by a Doctor.
