How good a singer do you have to be to sing Karaoke?

   How good a singer do you have to be to sing Karaoke?
   
   Is karaoke just for fun (whether you are good or bad) or is it a contest for singers who are good that need their egos stroked on a weekly basis?

   Karaoke isn't meant for good or bad singers, it's just for enjoyment. Go out with friends, have a few drinks here and there. Throw some beats out and just sing and laugh.

   The fun thing about it is, no matter what level you are, everyone has a good time!
   
   Especially if you do the moves while your singing Michael Jackson songs LOL  because you know that no one can sound like him

   It can be both, I KJ'd Karaoke in Iraq with our troops. We had singers of every caliber and the really good ones would wow the crowd, some of the not as good ones would do the same with the toys and hats provided and make it a show. We also had Karaoke Contests that brought out the best of both.
   It really is what you and your 'Posse' make it for each other.

   Karaoke is there for the enjoyment of the everyone and for groups of friends to have a good time. After a few drinks the enjoyment people have doing it is amazing.

   i think its more fun if youre TERRIBLE. lol  For my birthday friends and I did it and we were all pretty bad except one us. She put on a concert and it kind of killed the drunken mood.

   You definitely do not have to be a good singer at all. People just like having fun or something to do while they are at the bar.
