Jaws. A friend told me he never watched it because it's "just a monster movie". Oh my. It is so much more than that! It basically uses a monster as a device to point a mirror at society.

A crisis brings out people's true natures. You see the panicky politician who refuses to close the beaches for fear of losing summer business and the votes which go with it..the smart sheriff who does the right thing, on and on. You can enjoy it as a straight horror film but like most great movies it operates on different levels depending upon who's watching it.

I have a lot of favorite movies, but one of the best to see is Howl's Moving Castle.  The movie is animated, but when you see the names "Hayao Miyazaki" or "Studio Ghibli," don't dismiss it.  The animation is beautiful-- at times simplistic, and at other times complicated.  The movie is based on a book by Dianna Wynne Jones, and as much of a fan as I am, the movie can still take my breath away.  Howl's Moving Castle is something Miyazaki-sensei really outdid himself on, and I highly recommend it.  Five stars across the board!
