I'm not sure if it's he longest running, but it may be the longest running "Animated "series in television history that I know of.

I believe it is the longest running show that has a new episode only once a week. Shows like Days of our Lives have been on longer and I believe Oprah was on longer.

It's definitely the longest running animated programme. But there are lots of longer running shows. Over here in the UK Dr Who is the longest running Sci Fi show, starting in 1963 and having various incarnations. Coronation Street is the longest running soap opera of all time as it started in 1960 and is still going strong. The longest running show with the same presenter (Patrick Moore) is astrology show 'the sky at night' which began in 1957 and is also still going. This surely has to also be contender for the longest running show.
