Has American Idol lost its luster?

I don't see so many advertisements or billboards in our area anymore on the American Idol reality show. Has it lost its luster? And if so, why do you think?

In my opinion, Yes, it is just another form of enertainment on the Tube to me.
Do I watch it?  Actually, this is about the time that I start watching it. They are down to the finalists, and I get to hear some (at times) surprising renditions of songs.
To put it in perspective, it's been around long enough that you already know what you are going to get.

i think it is better now then it ever was. i rarely watch it but when i do i actually enjoy most of it. simon was like a spoiled punk with a big mouth and i always found that his choices ended up being the wrong ones.

Absolutely. It was entertaining during the first few years and then it become dull compared to America's Got Talent and The Voice. Once Simon left, the show was cooked. No matter if viewers like or dislike Simon, he was the show.
