How much of "Reality TV" is real and how much is made up of paid actors?
Whenever I watch a reality TV show (which is not often) I can't help but think that the whole things is contrived and pre-directed. It makes me think that maybe Andrew Jacobs, from Ohio (or whomever) is really just a small unknown actor looking to make a break, being played like a pawn in the producers endgame. Anyone been on a show or know someone who has?
The more I see of Reality TV, the more it looks like it's made completely up. Let's take a repo show for instance. One in particular - "Operation Repo", The two tough guys are always getting the job of taking a car from bikers & gangs. While the women on the show are dealing with girls in bathing suits. Now come on, what are the odds of match ups like this every time?
I think a great deal of it is made up, trouble is that i know look at most that way and it ends up being far less entertaining
I sure would like to know the real answer to this question if there is a genuinely true one, not just speculations.

Does reality TV insult the intelligence of viewers? With the Kardasians, the Bachelor, Jersey Shore and on and on with unknowns without talent becoming famous, has reality TV reached a point of insulting the intelligence of the viewer? Of course, the question itself is an oxymoron.

Do you watch more "reality" tv shows or actual shows?I'm just curious. I find myself more interested in so-called reality tv, especially elimination shows like HGTV Design Star and Project Runway, than regular tv shows.
