What is your special memory song from your childhood?
Do you have or remember a special memory song that is seldom played on the radio (even the oldies stations), but that reminds you of something or someone special from your childhood? What song is it?
Yes I have many! It's funny how music attaches itself to a memory whether it being an ex or family member. I can't remember most but one of them sticks out when I used to go to the grocery store with my mother when I was about 5 yrs old. The song from Modonna, La Isla Bonita was playing. Maybe it was just a good day!
Singing in the Rain, my mum and dad took me to the pictures for the first time, I was about 4. The film was Singing in the Rain, Gene Kelly's dancing enthralled me, and the way he splashed around in the puddles, I've always remembered the song and film.
I was a young teen, likely 13 and loved the song, "Do You Believe in Magic?" by the LovinSpoonful.
If I hear it nowadays it takes me right back to a time when everything was laid out in front of me for the taking - so much to do and so much time ahead of me.
The reason I asked this question is that I finally found a song on youtube that I had been trying to find for years. I never knew the name of it, and could not always remember the entire song. It was from my teen years - 1978 - I was about 14; it was a disco hit called "Keep On Dancin'." I so loved this song because it reminded me of this place we went to...I think it was called Wonder World. It was an amusement park.
I remember we were standing near the ferris wheel. I'm not sure if we were in line or not, but this song was playing and I was swaying to it because I really liked it. And I turned around and saw the most gorgeous guy looking at me. He had these beautiful hazel eyes. We locked eyes, and it was just kinda majical. He was with his family, and I with mine, but we were about the same age, and I remember wanting to dance with him to this song. I never forgot about it, I just couldn't remember the song.
My family and I have a long-standing love of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Fishin' in the Dark. We've listened to it a million times and it reminds me of getting up early and fishing with my dad when I was little.
