Can you answer this classic question?
Why do we park our cars in driveways and then drive our cars in parkways? Credit to George Carlin for the question. I don't think I could have come up with this question on my own.
It started a long time when the interstate system was being built. There were long roads that drove through parks. So they called started calling these roads parkways. Usually parkways are landscapes of trees and other outdoors objects. It is a very scenic route.
People used to have long driveways, so you did actually have to drive up them.
So parkways and driveways have to different meanings, but it does sound as though it should be the other way around. Good question though. I am a George Carlin fan myself.
leroy64 sorry but couldn't help but chuckle at your question and mention of George Carlin. Sorry but i can't come up with something witty to say,lol I think Carlin said it all.
Thanks for letting us remember the ole Hippie Dippie Weatherman
