   I think a movie I saw way back in the 1950s, starring William Holden and...can't recall the actress's name, but she was very well known, is probably the most romantic film I've ever seen.  It was called, "Love is a Many Splendored Thing."   And there was a theme song to the same name. 
   
   It was a romance between an American War correspondent and a Chinese Doctor and set in Hong Kong around the years of the Korean Conflict.

   I am not much for romance movies.  So for me it is a toss up between Pretty in Pink and Dirty Dancing.

      Or you can check out the Hallmark Channel if your cable company provides it.  They have a lot of nice movies on it.

   This is so not my forté. I just don't watch any movies that are purely romance. There are plenty with romance subplots, though, so I'm going to count those and so will you.
   
   For the sake of familiarity I'm going to exclude any anime nominations (where the winners are 5 Centimeters Per Second, Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) in favor of titles y'all may have heard of.
   
   Like Beauty and the Beast. Or Somewhere in Time. Or The Sound of Music. Or Airplane!. Because they're what I'd nominate. And if you haven't seen any of them, then shame on you.

   I think the Notebook is probably considered the most romantic contemporary movie. It is kind of sad movie at times, but the lake scene and what happened after is pretty romantic. Plus Noah wrote all those letters that Allie never got, it is pretty romantic.

   I liked the Unbearable Lightness of Being.  Whereas in Casablanca one of the main characters gives up the love of his life over politics, in Unbearable he gives up his freedom for the love of his life.
