Which one is your favourite historical/period movie?

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to watching  movies. I like period movies for their being able to take one to the past time. I simply adore them. Let's discuss period movies here. Which is your favorite and why?

Barry Lyndon, an 18th century costume drama from 1975, directed by Stanley Kubrick. It's absolutely gorgeous.

I'm a great fan of Mr Stanley Kubrick. I've watched all the movies directed by him. But my favorite one is 'Paths of Glory'.

For me it would be 'Amazing Grace' the story of William Wilberforce starring Ioanne Gryfford, Benedict cumberpatch and Albert Finney. It's the story of the abolition of the slave trade. It's directed by by Michael Apted. It's also about how Wilberforce's faith put him up against the establishment. A superb movie
