Why do minor keys have a sad sound?
Why does a song played in a minor key usually have a sad feeling to it?
A sound is just a sound.
It's the (individual) who attaches an emotion to it.
There may be a cultural aspect to certain chords and how they are perceived. Music does seem to evoke emotions. I suspect that music mimics the same types of neural activity in the brain when experiencing emotions derived from visual, physical or mental stimulus.
