In A Marriage, Is It The Man Or The Woman Who Is Supposed To Be Keeping The Marriage Certificate?
I don't think there's a "supposed to be". Couples often keep their important documents in one place and filed in a "department" for "important documents".
It's possible, too, to get a copy of a marriage certificate; so if both people want to keep a copy they should obtain an extra from the town/city were the marriage took place. It may cost $10 or so, but it may be worth it to prevent arguing over who keeps it.
If it's the fancy one from the church, those are often not accepted as legal certificates and people are required to get the one from the town/city anyway; so if the debate is over the church certificate, I think it should be kept with the wedding pictures and any other memorabilia from the wedding - and if there's a divorce people can negotiate who gets to keep it (if anyone even wants it).
i think BOTH parties should have a copy; in case something bad happens
I don't think it matter in who hold the MarrIage Certificate..I had mine in a picture frame. Now it's in my purse..But it really doesn't matter who holds it.Or where it is..As long as you know it is save..

I recently wrote a hub on this. If you are a wife who suffered this, the Other Woman who broke up a marriage, or a husband who left a family - what do you think explains the interest of the OW in breaking up a family?

Is it socially acceptable for a woman to propose marriage to a man?Even with all the gains women have made in terms of equality many of them view being “proactive” as being “desperate” when it comes to approaching men for dates, a dance, and especially marriage. According to many articles there are...
