Have you ever used reverse psychology on your child?
Is reverse psychology effective? When does it stop working and start backfiring?
what do you mean by reverse psychology? if you use the techniques of disciplining your child well it will not back fire, if you use excessive negative reinforcement techniques it is sure to back fire on you.
Not so much reverse psychology, but creative approaches to solutions, yes. For example, 14 yo son was teasing 15 1/2 yo sister about her first driving episode. I told him that if he chose to tease, from this point forward, I would delay his getting his permit 1 week per offense. It took him all of 5 seconds to relent.
Logical consequences are great, and if you can present them in an undesirable light, they often carry much weight!
