At what age do you let your child play outside unsupervised?
I have a four-year old and live in a relatively safe neighborhood, but it's a townhouse subdivision. I'm the only parent that stays outside to supervise my daughter; feel the need to keep her safe. Am I being overprotective or normal?
Nope, you are doing the normal thing if you are asking my opinion. A four year old is too young to be left alone for their own safety :-)
Can I say I wish it were more normal? Four is way too young to go unsupervised. We let our son, who is four, play in our backyard (enclosed) while someone is right there watching him out the window once in awhile. If it were a townhome complex, we wouldn't do it. I'd let my daughter play outside in the backyard and pay far less attention (almost 8), but I still wouldn't be too far away.
I sense a time coming soon when my daughter might be able to play in the front yard, too, without too much supervision...but I still think it may be as much as a year out.
I say good on you; keep it up!
You are being a GOOD parent! I have a 7 yr old who doesn't go outside unsupervised. These days, you can never be too cautious.

At what age will you let your child go into a public restroom alone?I am a mother of a 12 year old son and I am very nervous about mall safety. I don't allow him to go to the bathroom on his own. When he is in there on his own, I have no idea what is happening.

At what age would you let your daughter date? We've always said 15 for group dating and 16 for dating, but then we changed it a bit with our youngest who can be boy crazy and told her we'll have to see. I let her go out if I am present and it is chaperoned, etc. Just wondering what everyone else...

My opinion is that Michael Jackson was a kid toucher, bottom line. I loved Jackson's music when I was a kid, but when he started bleaching his skin and wearing shin guards, I realized something wasn't quite right with him. ADULTS SHOULD NOT SLEEP IN THE SAME BED WITH LITTLE CHILDREN.Am...

If you could change the age at which you had your child/children, would you?I had my child at 21 years old, and I love her more than anything in the world, but there are times I think I'm missing out on a large part of growing up. My mom didn't have children until she was 30 and she said she...
