   I would tell my child to be confident and safe.  I think so many children need a little more confidence in this scary world.

      Perhaps the gift to your child would be that they know you believe they are safe.  The world is not unsafe or scary, in my opinion, just peoole making very poor choices.

   So much to say in one little "piece". I do believe that to tell your child to "seek true happiness" will guide them to make the rest of the decisions in their life. Being happy keeps you on the right path...then I would send them off with a hug and a prayer!

      I would always say:
      
      Try to distinguish what is right from wrong before you decide anything, assuming always your actions, being always happy with what you could & can accomplish.

   Be happy, and be yourself!  I think often kids try to be like someone else that they admire.  If they learn to be happy in their own skin, the rest will come.

      Treat others the way you would like to be treated may be my pick too. Either that or, take responsibility for your actions. That was always a big deal at my house growing up and it has served me well as an adult.
