Discipline when it is applied to one's self generally means a person is willing to sacrifice (fun) activities in the short term in order to realize their long-term goals.
When discipline is spoken regarding parenting it is usually a type of punishment for not obeying rules. The goal is to discourage certain behavior and also teach a child that there are negative consequences for not following the rules. Ideally they learn this at home before ever having to deal with the police or a government entity.

I like your description of this. I also think that by disciplining your children, you're teaching them self-control as adults.

I like this simple view, gets straight to the point. I think knowing what the right thing is is part of discipline too.

Discipline to this "cowboy" simply means either one of these 4 scenarios; namely positive punishment, negative punishment, positive re-inforcement or negative re-enforcement.
If one wishes to extinguish the behavior one would choose either positive or negative punishment (not to be confused with physical punishment). If one wishes to encourage the behavior one would either choose positive or negative reinforcement... Keep in mind negative means you withdraw some stimulus from the equation and positive means you introduce some stimulus to the equation.

The definition of discipline to me is that one has to give value to time as it is most precious thing which doesn't come back once gone. Attending your job, work or office on time shows that you are punctual and so disciplined as well. Besides, loose talks and unparliamentary language should always be avoided. The  term of definition does not end here as in every sphere of life we need to mnaintain discipline by way of performing our  duty , comitment  in relationship and duty as a parents etc., etc.

This is a really informative answer. It's easy to forget that our own discipline affects those around us.
