Why do so many American parents refuse to acknowledge that their teenagers are burgeoning adults
with correlating sexual feelings while many European parents are the opposite?
I think in part it's because parents don't like the idea of needing to address those sorts of situations with their children, and dread when that comes to be something they need to talk about. As such, they'll try to refuse to acknowledge their children in those regards because they're trying to convince themselves it's not a situation actually happening, a "I can't see it so it's not there" sort of mindset.
Many American parents have too many boundaries and feel that is the correct way of parenting. The punishment or often grounding children for every little thing is so not appropriate. Having discussions with their children is also restricted, I live in Croatia and have learned that the parents here are very open IN conversations with their children and have noticed how different their lifestyles are in parenting. Parents should think as the new generation and let them know of the facts of life.
