6 or more wet diapers, 3 to 4 dirty. So ideally 10 or so times a day.

This is going to depend how long your baby is sleeping at a time. New babies sleep a lot. Unfortunately they usually do most of it during the day. Never let your baby sleep more than 4 hours straight during the day (some say 5) with out making sure you can wake them. Once awake change the diaper, it should be pretty wet.
If the baby is up and eating every 3 or 4 hours it should probably have a wet diaper at that time too. Bowel movements will also vary. If the baby is breast fed, digestion is a little easier and they may soil their diaper very soon after a feeding. If the baby is on formula they may only have 1-2 bowel movements per day. Often babies become constipated on formula. Their bowel movements are more formed when on formula and sometimes this is difficult for them to pass.
To be safe, ask your pediatrician when you should be concerned. Some will say only 2-3 very wet diapers a day and a bowel movement at least every other day. If you call your pediatricians office they will let you speak to a nurse and she will be able to answer all your questions. They don't mind, it is what they are there for.
