Baked Sweet Onions
We all love onions. Though onion are not by themselves a vegetable which can be cooked alone but nearly every food in the world (except sweets) contains onions. Onions added to any vegetable or meat would greatly enhance the taste of the dish. Onions are abundantly found all over the world and are one of the cheapest vegetable in the world. Onions are used in soup and onion soup is also very famous and is made in many homes all over the world. Onions are healthy as they hardly contain any calories but are full of minerals. They are very good for summers too as they are supposed to prevent heat strokes.
- Onions: 4 large sweet onions. Try to use Walla, Vidalia or Maui variety.
- Butter: 4 Tsp.
- Balsamic Vinegar or Ace to Balsamic.
- Coarse Salt: To Taste.
- Coarse freshly grounded pepper: To taste.
- Peel onions carefully.
- Pre Heat oven at 250 F.
- Take a baking dish with deep base.
- Fill One inch of it with water.
- Place onions in water.
- Bake uncovered for couple of hours or till onions are soft to squeeze.
- Remove from oven.
- Now pull back the outermost skin of the onion and cut at the root.
- Transfer them in to the serving dish.
10. Season each with salt and pepper.
11. Put one Tsp of butter on each onion.
12. Now with help of a dropper, dazzle the tops of onion with Balsamic vinegar.
13. Serve hot.
