Steamer (steam oven) recipes – Delicious salmon with ginger
This is first part of articles about cooking in steamer (steam oven). I’m very excited about steam cooking and I want to share some recipes with you. You can read about advantages of steam cooking in my other hubs.
First meal will be salmon with ginger. It came from China and it is really tasty.
Ingredients
-salmon (the best is fresh)
-fresh ginger
-onion
-aromatic spices
-rice
-peanut oil
-dark soya sauce
Useful accessories
Salmon preparation
Make an incision on salmon from skin side in 3cm distance. Then put small pieces of ginger in to holes. Now you can add some aromatic spices (you can also add them to water or special spices container in your steamer). After that put salmon to steamer for 15 – 25 min (it depends on the fish thickness ). Try to not over boil.
Sauce preparation
Cut onion into small strips. I like lot of onion, but it depends on your taste so cut as much as you like. Then put stripped onion on already made salmon and glaze it with boiling peanut oil. You can use mix of peanut oil and sunflower oil. Be careful because boiling oil is quite dangerous. It have tendency to splash, but it have to boil to make onion soft and tasty.
Rice preparation
You can prepare rice in steamer (stem oven) or you can boil it in traditional way in water. I often use flavored rice for example jasmine. Remember to made rice in not loose manner.
Serving
Serve this meal on a big plate. You can put some dill on top. Dark soya sauce is use for dipping pieces of fish. It makes this meal little spicy.
If you don’t have salmon it can be other type of fish.
Bon appétit!
