Who knows what I mean when I refer to pink sauce for Chinese food? It's different than fry sauce...

Okay, a silly subject, but I'm curious.  Who knows what I mean when I refer to pink sauce for chinese food?  Apparently it's just localized to the NorthWest, and we have to ship it down to my Brother-in-law in AZ who is addicted to it.  It goes good on everything, and it is different than fry sauce.  I live in Oregon, and all our Chinese restaurants around here have it...  LOL I am obviously bored... smile

Are you referring to the delicious stuff you dip your egg roll in? Not the hot mustard, but the pink concoction that is kinda sweet/sour/mostly sweet? I would love to know a recipe!

Yes that is a good way to decribe it! We eat it on everything here, I'm not sure about a recipe, I know my sister has looked into a few, but none were the same result as what we get in the restaurant.  I'm curious though is it common where you live?

I'm wondering if you're referring to pink shrimp sauce...  is it creamy or is it clear pink?  If it's creamy it's akin to Japanese white sauce but with a pink color.

Though as I saw you mention and the way the person described it... you are either referring to Plum Sauce or Duck Sauce depending on where you get it and what's in it.  If it's Duck Sauce there are red specks in it.  Most American Chinese places serve this.   It's more orange than pink though... here is a link to it, and a recipe if that is what you think it is.
    Duck Sauce:  http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012 … ecipe.html or http://www.food.com/recipe/chinese-duck-sauce-213499
    Plum Sauce: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/780/easy … sauce.aspx

I also included a Chinese rib sauce recipe because that is more pink than any Chinese sauce I have encountered.

    I hope it helps!
