I have heard of the onion pie using green onions, olives, raisins with a pie crust. Is this true
The onion pie recipe should be from Bari, Italy
My grandparents were from Bari, Italy and my grandma, Rosa, made a pie every year on the Feast of St. Joseph (March 19). This pie was filled with scallions, green olives, raisins, peas, anchovies and mushrooms. The crust is made with white wine and olive oil. The whole thing is sprinkled with sugar. It may sound strange, but it sure is delicious, especially with a glass of wine!
Don't know about that one but the combination should be sweet and savory.

Is there a good substitution for onions?I have an allergy to onions but so many recipes call for them. Is there a good substitution I can use in soups, casseroles, etc?

Are onions good for you?My husband and I eat a lot of onions in our meals and I just wondered if there are any health benefits to them and if certain types of onions are better than others. We eat mostly white onions.
