Is owing and running a restaurant a good business?

Often been told that running a restaurant business is really tough, both physically and financially - what are your thoughts on this?

Great business if you want to work when everyone else is out enjoying themselves. It is tough, stressful and extremely hard work - Its rewarding, but there are easier ways to make money.

It purely depends on YOU. You have to be willing to change with the current trends to make it in the restaurant business. At nights I cook at The Virginian, until the last year the owner had been losing her shirt, but a few ideas and a serious menu overhaul has the restaurant making more money than it ever has. You must put quality of food and quality of service over everything else to succeed, if you are going in just to make money, you will probably fail within the first three years.
