Some vegetarians behave like crusaders, if you don't follow their line, you must be wrong, by having meat substitutes, they add more ammo to the conversion cause.
Good question Try as they might none ever come close to tasting like the real thing.
Not sure, perhaps it has to do with the reason that they became vegetarians. Those that became vegetarians for health reasons may do it because they miss the meat, not only the taste, but the look and the feel of it. Those that gave it up for humane reasons, may not necessarily want anything that looks like or reminds them of a dead animal on their plate.
I asked the same question to a friend of mine who was a lesbian.
I guess vegetarians create meat substitutes to help new vegetarians transition from flesh (meat) to substitute meat. These meat substitutes come in variety e.g veggie fish, big franks, and veggie bacon. Vegetarians aren't suppose to stay on these meat substitutes because it is just to help with the transitions and they can be high in sodium.
